Better than Ever, Except...

Hello World...

How am I doing after surgery?

Well. It has been over a year now, and honestly it feels like some distant memory. I honestly have trouble remembering those first few weeks after surgery- all I remember was how awful it was, drooling on myself incessantly. Other than that I don't remember a whole lot. It seems like it happened once upon a dream, which I suppose is great news for some of you, especially those of you who are going through it right now.

I have been doing great except I am currently getting my upper two wisdom teeth and those little buggers hurt! I have to get them out, there is no date on the calendar yet, but you can be sure I will be blogging about it... it is part of the jaw-journey...

Because of my history with surgery I have to get them extracted by my surgeon, Dr. Turvey, rather than my dentist... which although it is a bit of a hassle makes me MUCH more comfortable with the whole situation...

I thought I might as well share some pictures with you all from this past weekend up to the mountains, it was incredibly beautiful up there!

Sometimes life is like a wind that just brushes right by, and honestly this past year has gone by at a rapid speed... I reach to grasp it, and hold on to my youth, but it will be gone before I know it...

Let me know if you have any questions... any questions at all!
And if you leave your email, I may be able to respond quicker, nevertheless I will respond.

Have a blessed day! :)

  3. Very cool blog!! Just stumbled across here and had to comment... because I just got braces 2 weeks ago, and am getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled next Thursday. And they're scaring me by very officially calling it 'oral surgery'! lol Anyways yeah...

  4. Hey! I just wanted to say thanks so much for sharing your story. I am scheduled for surgery on November 11th... so I'm just a few weeks away and your blog has helped so much! You have inspired me to start my own blog... which is a work in progress... haha. Anyway, you look AMAZING and I hope I have the wonderful results you experienced. I have a couple questions for you... first, I know this is kind of personal but did you have to schedule your surgery around your menstrual cycle? At my first appointment my surgeon mentioned that I would have to have the surgery before or after my period because of blood loss... but it somehow got scheduled when I will be on my period. I'm scared to mention it to him because I REALLY don't want it to get rescheduled. I might cry! lol. Also, how much weight did you lose? I weigh 112lbs and I can't really afford to lose a bunch of weight, so I am worried about that. Again, thanks for posting and once I get my blog up and running... check it out!

  5. Hey Hannah,
Braces are never fun. I don't know anybody who enjoys getting their wisdom teeth pulled either. I hope that you are able to heal up relatively quickly! :) I will pray for you. And thanks for the comment! :) Feel free to follow my blog.

    Hey Elizabeth!

I am so excited for you! Surgery honestly changed my life and outlook on myself image. It really is an incredible experience- hard? Yes. Worth it!? 100 million percent!

And thanks for asking some questions, I am ALWAYS up for answering, so feel free to email me at kpiso@nc.rr.com after your surgery if you need anything!

So to address your first question: My surgeon mentioned nothing about my period, however he did put me on a certain type of iron pills which drastically increased my red-blood cell count specifically for my surgery. I am sorry I cannot really explain why you are having to schedule everything around your period... I did not have to do that, and I am anemic too... go figure.

Also... I lost about 20 pounds in the first 2 weeks but gained half of it back in the next 2 weeks. It was not big deal at all. Just make sure you are eating everyday... I ate all the time, it was just such a pain and I couldn't eat as much as normal that I lost weight. I wouldn't worry too much about it... just keep an eye on it... My Mom maintained my weight by adding stuff to the food that she mushed up to increase the calorie content (butter and cheese for example) and she also made me drink Boost to help me keep my weight somewhat level.

Also. I couldn't help but notice you are from NC! Me too! :)

    I hope this helps.

    Love Always,

    Makay

  8. Hey Makay! Another question! How long were you in the hospital during your surgery?

    Thanks!
