An Add-On to the post Below...

To understand this post, you have to read the one below... just letting you know.

This is to answer a couple questions...

I am going into surgery bright and early 7:30 is when I am scheduled. I asked why so early and he said I am one of the biggest cases right now... so I have to be at the hospital by 6, which means I have to leave my house by 5... which means I am NOT going to sleep... haha. I can try, but I am not seeing that happen haha.

So if you can pray for me... please pray July 8th... specifically 7:30-12 (Times I will be in the O.R.) That whole day is going to be rough though.

Also I PROMISE I will blog the rough times and the good times... unlike many bloggers. I actually was discussing with my surgeon about the hospital, and wifi. And yes they have wifi... which means that I will be able to blog. He laughed at me and was like, "You may not feel up to it", but I was like " I have to at least let them know I am alive and well." haha. So don't worry I will be blogging ASAP. :)

And to answer a common question: What was the shot for? Well it is called "Epogin" and it was 2 shots... They go in your muscle so he used my shoulder, and I am just giving you heads up (something no one else did for me, haha) that it stings, and burns... It is not THAT bad, but it hurts, even though the doctor says it doesn't, and make sure you loosen up as much as possible, it is easier on a loose muscle.

Now the actual shot is for an increase in red blood cells, so that your chances for a blood transfusion go WAY down. Also, it promotes healing. Many pro athletes get it when they are injured.

I hope I answered all your questions. Feel free to let me know if you have more. I am more than glad to answer them. :)

MAKE SURE
to read the post below. All the info is there.

A Pre-Op Appointment.

This is a legit post... long, but legit.

No one told me about all this! haha. Seriously. They did a ton today! We got to the ortho surgeon office and they made me take 3 sets of molds. EW. Silly putty in my mouth. Grosssssss. Then after that the Resident (the helper student surgeon) came in and took a bajillion measurements, and made a mold for my splint with warm wax... He had to take 2 thought because the first one tore. Then after that he had to give me 2 shots!!!!!! A SHOT? WHAT!? No one's blog said anything about a shot! And not only one but 2!?

:,-(

So I pulled my sleeve up like a big girl as the doc gave me a big 'ole shot in my sholder muscle. FYI it HURT! It was burning... ahhh... anyway glad thats past. Then after 2 shots he answered some questions.

How long is this surgery going to take approximently?
4-5 hours

How long am I going to be in the hospital?
1-2 nights depending on how it goes.

How long are the stitches going to be in?
5-7 days. They don't hurt, they are more annoying than anything. They will just fall out on their own.

How long will I be rubber banded shut?
6 weeks

So are you going to have to do a chin on me (genioplasty)?
No, it doesn't look like it. You have a beautiful and symmetrical chin.

Can you knock me out with "happy drugs" before I go back to the O.R.?
Yep. We plan on it. Trust me, you are not old enough to know, but it is the best cocktail you will EVER have.

Do I have a choice about what I take? As of Pain meds...
Yep, other than the ibuprofen, stronger pain meds are optional. Don't try and be a en hero though. If you are in pain tell us.

How far are you moving my jaws?
We aren't sure right now. We are going to look at the x-rays, molds, pictures, and get our final measurements and plans together. We will contact you before your surgery and let you know.

Can we see a soft tissue projection of how my profile will change?
Yep. You can see it the day before when you come in.

Then we had to go get some testing done on my nerves... it is for an optional test. I am not getting the Vitamin B, but I am getting $275 for letting them test me. After I finished that up I went over to the main hospital and got some blood work done and peed in a cup. haha. It was weird. Then we met with some nurses who let us know about the pre-surgery procedure. FINALLY after that we got to leave! It took us 7 hours to leave the hospital. AHHH!

It is so close! I am so excited... I wish I could just fast forward to week 2. :P

I was also wondering if you follow this blog if you could please pray for me July 8th. If you will let me know. Leave a comment. :) I would love to know that I have people backing me up with some shout outs to the Lord. Thanks.

OMGOSH...

10 days. 10 days to enjoy chewing. 10 days to marvel at my underbite. 10 days to show people how weird it is that I can stick my tongue through my teeth while biting down. 10 days to enjoy a "un-chipmunked" face for a month or two. 10 days to emotionally prepare for surgery. 10 days to figure out what I am going to live off of/eat for a month or 3... haha.

10 DAYS!!!!

AHHHHH!

Ouch...

So today I got my surgical wires and hooks put on, and all I have to say is OUCH!!!! :,-( Seriously. My Orthodontist continually was pushing and pulling and I really felt like my teeth were going to fall right out of my head. Thank God they didn't. Then the little "posts" were poking me, and I was bleeding, and I am not trying to scare you, but it is NOT fun. I thought it would be easy, but the wire is chunky and she popped 2 brackets off trying to shove it in. She continually apologized, yet they pain was just awful and I did shed a tear or two, which frightened her.

Here are some pics of my wires and hooks... and my bite... I am so excited to get it fixed.

In this picture I am trying to show you all the hooks in the back... WOWZER. It is like a medieval torture device... for real.

I know this is a very unflattering picture of my underbite, but that is my NATURAL bite... I hate it (I know I have established that, but I just wanted to reaffirm.)

And here is a much dreaded profile shot. :P ughhhhh...

My Ortho surgeon told me that the surgery is going to give me a lot more cheek bone and therefore my nose will appear smaller and my chin will be more proportional. :) I can hardly wait for the results. I also was asked to participate in a test with Vitamin B, and seeing if it helps gain nerve response back faster... it is a nasal spray once a week for 6 months I think... So yeah... the best part is they will pay me $275. I still haven't decided, but I am thinking I probably will.

An Encouraging Before and After...

So tomorrow I am going to my Ortho at 9:30 for my surgical hooks and wires, so I will blog about that later. Right after my appointment with my Ortho I am going to the hospital for my surgeon. He is taking X-rays and pictures, and just some pre-op stuff. More on how that goes later.

So I found these videos online and they were realllllly encouraging. Just her progress and what an amazing before and after. :) Check it out. My voice is just like hers... I mean seriously it sounds like me... we have the same lisp and everything... weird. And I am so excited. :D

AND AFTER!!!

Wowzer!!! I am so excited. haha. :)

I will tell you how everything goes tomorrow.

WOWZER!

It is less than a month now till my surgery!!! I can't believe it. I feel like it was just a couple days ago that I was like "yay! 9 more months till my surgery!" haha. Wow, it sure flew by. I am so nervous, yet very excited. I get questions like, "Why are you doing this?" "You are pretty you don't need this" blah... blah... blah... but it is not as much as for aesthetics as it is mechanic... by getting this fixed I will be way more confident in myself, and it will eliminate "awkward" social moments... like being incapable of eating a whole apple, or subs and its insides falling all over me. I know that it is going to be tough, but it is also going to be soooooo worth it. :)

I will have a few update pics up soon. :)
