Day 4

Okay. So today I already am feeling a little better... it is the first time since surgery that I have caught a glimpse of light. I mean my lips are driving me insane, and I am taking meds every five seconds (antibiotics, motrin, tylenol, sudafed, etc). I haven't taken ANY narcotics the doctors think I am crazy, but the last thing I want is to be puking everywhere and all dizzy so whatever I am just dealing.

Here is how I look. SWOLLEN! Ugh. My friend Wes was like you are going to be drop dead gorgeous- as soon as you are not so "balloon-like" haha. Very true Wes, very true.

Here is my profile. I am still so happy that my top lip is in front of my bottom!!!! :D but of course my lips look absolutely hideous... I mean the corners are awful. I want it to go away. One thing I am loving is my nose! It looks smaller. :) Once the swelling goes down I am going to look wayyyyy better.

One of the most annoying things is drooling everywhere. HOW DO YOU STOP??? AHHH. It is driving me insane... I go to use the restroom and it is like freaking Niagra Falls. I hate it...

Also I hate the jaw bra. Seriously... do I have to wear it? DANGIT! I do. It is reattaching the muscle to my chin. Pretty important.

My wisdom teeth actually are giving me the most trouble, my ears hurt, and are popping. I just don't know why, but is giving me the most pain. Kinda ridiculous.

Oh, and it is so cute. Tucker (my doggie) keeps coming and sitting with me. It is like he knows that I am hurting. It is adorable.

Here are my before and after xrays. WOWZER what a difference. And look at all the screws! No wonder my face hurts haha.

AFTER:

The screws still kind of freak me out. :P haha. but you can see such a difference. :) EXCITING. Now if only I would stop drooling and swelling go down.

Questions? Do you have questions? Let me know.

  1. Hi Makay!
First of all you look great, and what a great attitude you have. How is your breathing/swallowing? Also, what are you using to for you poor lips??
    Have a wonderful day!

  2. You are starting to look better!! Your face looks better, today. Does not look quiet as swollen as yesterday. You mouth was stretched as far as it could go, so the corners will take a little while to feel better. The drooling will get better when you can swallow better. We swallow throughout the day because our saliva glands produce all the time. It is amazing how different the x-rays are!!! You do have a lot of screws in there. Papa said to tell you that he loves you and I do, too. I think you know this, though. God is still answering all of the prayers that were given for you and he will continue. Love you so much!

  3. @ Brent-
my breathing has gotten MUCH better as the roof of my mouth swelling has gone down. Swallowing takes a LOT of effort, but has gotten a bit better. When you go to swallow tilt your head back, it helps TREMENDOUSLY! Trust me. And I am using 2 things for my lips- Vaseline (which is eassssy), and Avon moisture treatment... which works pretty good too and its not so greasy.

    @Nana and Papa
THANKS! Your prayers mean so much to me. It will get better I know.

  4. Yep, everything you said was exactly how I felt. You look great, BTW. I freaked-out about the screws too. I can feel mine in a couple of places and that makes it worse. I guess after a while we won't think about them. My doctor sent me home with a suction machine to help with the drooling, but since you don't have it that won't help. I did take it back to him at my 7 day appointment. So, that should give you hope. I also had a towel wrapped around my neck all the time to wipe the drool.

  5. Hi Makay!
I think you look great and I am glad you can see the "light at the end of the tunnel". I had my 2nd surgery on the 7th (a more minor one - supposedly) and yesterday I "hit the way". Today I have around 30% improvement, part of that came from not taking any more Norco, so I understand what you are going through on that.

    Hang in there!
